Spiced Pecans | She's Wanderlust: Spiced Pecans

Spiced Pecans

June 28, 2015

I love spicing salads up with yummy nuts or dried fruit. When my mom came to visit in D.C., we bought spiced pecans from Trader Joe's - we loved them. We put them on our salads and snacked on them by the handful. After they were gone, I thought I would try to make my own. I looked up a few recipes online but wasn't convinced by one in particular so I decided to make my own variation. See below for my Spiced Pecans recipe - they are candied with a kick of spice*!

Spiced Pecans

  • 1 Tbsp Pepper Flakes
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 Egg White
  •  2 cups Pecans

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. Combine dry ingredients (minus the pecans) in one bowl and the egg white in another bowl.
  3. Whisk egg whites until foamy and stir in pecans.
  4.  Place pecans in dry mixture, ensuring all pecans are coated.
  5. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. Spread pecans out into a single layer. Sprinkle remaining dry mixture over pecans.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes at 300 then reduce temperature to 250. Cook for 10 minutes more.
  7. Remove pecans from baking tray to cool before storing.
  8. Enjoy!

*Caution, these pecans are highly addictive.
