A Weekend in Baltimore | She's Wanderlust: A Weekend in Baltimore

A Weekend in Baltimore

February 26, 2015

Now that I sit here in our new home, totally exhausted, I am able to reflect on our last 4 months in Baltimore. We have been very busy since we arrived. Between unpacking, cleaning, coordinating a new job, and then another new job and having wonderful guests both weekends, I have hardly had time to breathe. Until now. And I think I might just stay here (↓) for a while.

So back to Baltimore… as most of you already know, the city really grew on me. When we first arrived, I knew nothing about the city but was warned to be very careful and to NOT watch the wire (I’m glad I didn’t, I probably still wouldn’t sleep if I watched it now). A preview of our first few weeks in Baltimore can be found here.

There is a lot of culture and history in Baltimore, I highly suggest making a visit if you haven’t already been! I have put together a list of my favorite attractions, spots to eat and included the itinerary from when my family came to visit below. It was definitely a busy weekend but we were able to see most of the city and the main attractions! I hope you find it helpful and if you have any questions about Baltimore, I am certainly not an expert on the city, but shoot me an email and I can try to help you plan!

Weekend Itinerary

Attractions

National Aquarium - Home to many different species. Exhibits include a rainforest and dolphin aquarium.

B&O Railway Museum - This museum was definitely one of my highlights, I definitely recommend a visit! You can even take a train ride on the first commercial mile of railway laid in America.

Football/Baseball Game - Baltimore has a great fan base! Below is a picture of Camden Yards, home of the Baltimore Orioles.

The Walters Art Museum - For the art lover in you and admission is free!

American Visionary Art Museum - Another very unique art museum. The floor mat when you arrive is made of toothbrushes, picture below!

The Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum and Sports Legends Museum - For the sports enthusiast! The Babe Ruth Birthday Museum is pictured below.

Fort McHenry - For the history buffs.

Other popular places I never made it to include:

- The Maryland Zoo
- Ripley's Believe it or Not!
- Maryland 9/11 Memorial

Restaurants

Breakfast

Nanami Cafe - Another great lunch spot in Fell's Point for Sushi.

For Dinner

Woodberry Kitchen - Another one of our favorites! Farm-to-table style with the freshest ingredients! See my restaurant review here.

Joe² - Our favorite pizza spot in Baltimore! Another restaurant featured on Diners, Dive-ins and Dives, specializing in pizza and risotto.

Brewer's Art  - A funky bar and restaurant.

The Owl Bar - A bar and restaurant in the historic Belvedere Hotel.

The Abbey Burger Bistro - A unique burger joint offering different meat options and toppings.

Marie Louise Bistro - Because what's dinner without dessert?

Charm City Cakes - And everyone needs a few cupcakes or jars of cake on hand, don't they? Especially when they are from Chef Duff's cake shop!

During the Holidays

Shop around the Christmas Village.

Go skating on the ice rink in the Harbor.
