DIY Floral Headband

June 19, 2014

So it's been a few weeks since I last blogged... apparently life got in the way. When I first started this blog I thought I would post about once a week. If I post more, lucky you, if I miss a week (or two) I am not going to loose sleep over it. I hope you don't mind.

Two weeks ago I was in Nashville with a few of my best friends, celebrating our girlfriends bachelorette. It was a fabulous, jam-packed and an exhausting 6 days. More to come on this great trip. And last week I was catching up on reality and sleep.

Before the much anticipated trip to Nashville I did a couple of DIYs. One was a floral headband.

A floral headband is a fun, unique accessory for summer. I got so many compliments on mine and many people were surprised to learn that I made it!

This floral headband was so easy to make and only took about half an hour.

- First I decided on the design and colours I wanted to use. This can be  a very customizable piece. From many flowers to only a couple and colourful vs. neutral.

- I then gathered all of my supplies:
    - fake flowers
    - ribbon
    - polyester elastic (to give it some stretch)
    - glue gun (and glue sticks)

- I measured the ribbon around my head, taking into consideration the stretch from the elastic portion. I then sewed the elastic to the ribbon. I put the elastic in the middle of the ribbon so I had ribbon on either side to make a bow. You could also cut the ribbon if you wanted, having the elastic show at the back would look fine as well.

- I then took the flower buds off of the stems and laid them out according to how I wanted it to look.

- Then I glued the flowers into the ribbon and voila - I was done!

You could also use an old headband or any other fabric and tie the ends. I just prefer the elastic band so I don't have to keep adjusting it.

Happy crafting!
